Intended Use: Amies Transport Medium is designed for the transport and preservation of clinical specimens. It is not intended for microbial identification or antimicrobial susceptibility testing. This medium effectively maintains the viability of bacteria during transport, ensuring accurate results upon arrival at the laboratory.

Composition: The medium contains essential elements such as sodium thioglycolate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, calcium chloride, and agar. These ingredients help in sustaining the survival of bacteria, maintaining a low redox potential, and ensuring a stable pH.

Storage Conditions:

• Store at room temperature, away from light, with an environmental humidity of ≤80%.
• Once the product is opened, it should be sealed and stored properly, with a shelf life of one year post-opening.
• The product has a shelf life of three years when stored under appropriate conditions.

Instructions for Use: For powdered medium:

1. Dissolve 13.25g of the medium in 1000ml distilled water, heat to dissolve.
2. Dispense into test tubes, sterilize at 121℃ for 15 minutes.
3. Allow to cool to room temperature before use.
4. Ensure the pH is 7.3±0.1, and transport samples at 5-25℃ within 24±2 hours.

For ready-to-use tube medium:

1. Open the package before sampling.
2. Use the provided swab to collect the sample.
3. Place the swab in the transport medium.
4. Label the sample with relevant information.
5. Transport the sample to the laboratory for further analysis.

Performance Characteristics: The medium is a uniform, sediment-free gel solid that maintains a pH of 7.3±0.1 at 25℃ after sterilization. It is crucial for sustaining the viability of clinical specimens, making it indispensable for accurate microbial analysis.
